Vector Neclace Watch

For this project, I was to create something vector that tells time. That was basically it. You can choose whatever object you want, and it can be as simple as a cartoon or as complex as it can be to look realistic. I wanted something in the middle, with some shading and what not. I also wanted to be different, to stand out, so I picked an object I think no one else will.

A necklace watch. Necklaces with charms on them are popular, so I decided to try one with a watch on it. Below are my drafts, which started out not as creative, but eventually took me to where I wanted to be.

While I was sketching, I was looking at examples online, and creating my own ideas from them. Pinterest is an amazing place! I found the necklace watch idea pretty quickly, and began to start playing with that idea. I drew some different types of watches after that, to make sure it was as creative as I could get, and still loved the idea of a necklace watch.

My draft was pretty close to the final object, since I was really excited about it. Below is my draft.

Then I was able to get more complex, and get feedback from several different people. I asked classmates both with experience and without, to ask what it needed to look real. A lot of it was shading, and making it look 3D. Adding a texture to the leaf, adding a shine to the watch, and adding some smaller charms were some of the ideas I heard that I added into the design.

Eventually, it turned out to look like this:

And here is a close up look at some of the details and textures.

I was impressed with the final object! I know it doesn’t look as realistic as it could, but it wasn’t meant for that. I needed to make a vector object that told time, and I did just that. And I think that my work will stand out from the rest because it is different, which was a personal objective of mine, and I am proud of the results that I was able to get from this object.
