Typographical Poster – Vector Birds Fly Away
For this project I had to do a typographical poster. Coming up with ideas was hard for me. I knew I could type words and make them look appealing, but I wanted to do more than that. I wanted to see if I could get more creative than just picking a nice font and typing some words. Here was my drafts:
As you can see, I hardly touched on the birds idea. I found a quote I loved, and I tried catering to that one quote. Then I saw something like what I did, drew a quick sketch, and kept it as a backup. I vectorized a few drafts very quickly, and came up with these two:
After seeing them shown on a big screen in front of a bunch of people, it was easy to see which one I had the most interest in developing, and it was the birds one.
I started working on it more, and came up with a few drafts that I showed my professor. I knew something was off but I couldn’t tell what. He told me it needed to have some big birds removed, and to make the words the focus and things like that. After tweaking it some, I was happy with my results! I made a typographical poster that was interesting, unique, and not just words typed on a sheet.
